Then a major boost: the Los Angeles County Arts department selected me as their 1970 “NEW TALENT” and
supported me with an exhibition and publicity.
Armed with canvas and mixed media, I exhibited extensively in a wide range of Southern California juried shows as well
as organising a number of one man shows, resulting in the privilege of having my work in many private collections (for
the full story, including making tacos on Sunset Boulevard, etc. And an incredible journey across the Atlantic with Joan
Crawford and my green Hornet ) ...see here..
In 1977, I made a major shift in my works focus (and home location) from two dimensional design to the multi
dimensional designing and management of services for people with a Learning Disability, a true and enlightening art form.
Still keeping my hand on the palette with commissioned work, exhibitions at the Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington, and
group shows in Manchester with the GALAS art group, I was fortunate to be professionally skilled by the NHS (National
Health Service) and personally skilled by the people with the learning disability and their carers.
2005 marked a re-focus on my ART work, with retirement from the NHS, return to the Studio, more travel with those I
love and continued work with learning disabilities through part-time employment with Partners Foundation LTD
